We Serve the Whole Community

Anyone with a question, a need, a problem or a crisis…

  • Children and Teens
  • All Types of Families
  • Seniors and Singles
  • The Latino Community

The St. Helena Family Center is a place where we can all receive the guidance, information and support we need to enhance the quality of our lives.

Focus on Those with Special Needs

At the same time, the St. Helena Family Center seeks to serve those individuals and families in our community who face additional challenges and have special needs. While many perceive St. Helena and the surrounding area as being largely affluent, our community actually represents a wide range of income levels:

  • Twenty-one percent of the families in our area report an income below $35,000 per year and one in three families earn less than $50,000 per year. This is of special note in our area because housing costs in several of our communities are the highest in the county.
  • Figures from the California Department of Education show that 40% of the students in our schools qualify for free or reduced lunch, an important indicator of poverty.

The Latino farm workers and their families, who are crucial to our wine industry, often face a range of special challenges due to language and cultural issues and lack of access to services and support.
