Our Approach

Everyday life can present many challenges.  Stress often begins within a family unit and circles out to school, friends, work and may eventually affect the entire community. The St. Helena Family Center helps children, families and individuals access the tools they need to deal with stress factors in their everyday lives.  The Center focuses on three primary areas:

Well-being

  • Develop emotional well-being by dealing with issues of self-esteem, attitude and trust.
  • Address mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and addiction.
  • Encourage positive, proactive choices for nutrition and lifestyle that help maintain good physical health.

Insight

  • Gain an understanding of how society works: build confidence in dealing with government, housing, schools, banks, medical professionals, work situations and more.
  • Build parenting skills.
  • Provide referrals for services and assistance tailored to specific needs.
  • Assist the Latino community with cultural adaptation

Relationships

  • Build strong and resilient families.
  • Develop individuals’ interpersonal communication skills.
  • Encourage children and families to engage in relationships and activities that are productive. There are many resources to help families flourish in Napa County, but most of them are located in the city of Napa.  In addition to providing our own programs, the St. Helena Family Center offers program and meeting space to a variety of other non-profit agencies so they can provide services directly to our constituents, right here in our community.
